ENROLMENT COMMITTEE
A committee will be created for the review of applications for enrolment.
The five-person Enrolment Committee will consist of:
- 2 Government of Canada-appointed representatives
- 2 FNI-appointed representatives, and
- 1 independent committee chair from the Newfoundland legal community, approved by both Canada and the FNI.
The Enrolment Committee responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing all submitted applications.
- Determining the eligibility of applicants as Founding Members.
- Creating a first Founding Members list within 12 months. (scheduled to be completed by November 2009).
- Creating a second Founding Members list within 3 years after the formation of the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band.
The Enrolment Committee is bound to comply to the terms of the Agreement-in-Principle.
